Teacher Active is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Spanish Teacher to join a secondary school in Buckingham, Buckinghamshire, for an immediate start.

This is a temporary ongoing position providing sickness cover on a timesheet basis. The successful Spanish Teacher will work Monday to Thursday, 32 hours per week, teaching Spanish alongside French across the secondary curriculum.

The school is looking for a confident and experienced Spanish Teacher who can provide continuity for pupils throughout the period of absence. The ability to teach Spanish up to A-Level is essential, alongside the ability to teach French within the secondary age range.

As a Spanish Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging and well-structured lessons that develop pupils’ speaking, listening, reading and writing skills. You will support students across a range of abilities and ensure lessons are appropriately differentiated to encourage strong academic progress.

You will maintain high expectations for behaviour, participation and achievement while following the school’s existing curriculum and schemes of work. Strong classroom management and the ability to quickly build positive relationships with pupils will be essential.

You will also assess and monitor pupil progress, provide constructive feedback and support students preparing for formal examinations, particularly those studying Spanish at GCSE and A-Level.

• Differentiate lessons according to pupils’ abilities and learning needs
• Support students preparing for GCSE and A-Level Spanish
• Assess, monitor and record pupil progress
• Provide constructive and timely feedback
• Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement
• Create a positive and engaging classroom environment
• Build strong professional relationships with pupils and colleagues
• Work collaboratively with colleagues within the languages department
• Provide continuity of learning throughout the sickness cover period
• Follow safeguarding procedures and prioritise pupil wellbeing

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
• Substantial experience teaching within a secondary school setting
• Strong subject knowledge in Spanish
• The ability to teach Spanish up to A-Level – essential
• The ability to also teach French – essential
• Experience delivering GCSE-level Spanish
• Confidence supporting pupils preparing for GCSE and A-Level examinations
• The ability to plan engaging and differentiated language lessons
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• The ability to establish positive relationships with pupils
• A professional, reliable and adaptable approach
• Strong teamwork skills
• A strong understanding of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one
• The right to work in the UK
