Purpose
The High Pressure Boiler Technician operates, serves, and maintains power equipment and systems, including boilers, pumps, and turbines. This role also involves checking condensate systems throughout the plant. The technician maintains systems that generate heat for the buildings during cooler months, as well as steam used in heat treat and bonding processes. Additionally, this position maintains and operates the ultra-filtration system and process water systems to prevent failures of air compressors.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic mechanical repairs on pump and boiler equipment.
- Check and maintain traps in the boiler room on steam mains.
- Monitor equipment routinely.
- Collect and test water samples.
- Take corrective actions to maintain proper chemical levels.
- Perform necessary repairs.
- Log all changes and issues related to boiler controls.
- Maintain the plant's used oil system.
- Maintain the plant's process water system.
- Maintain the Abcor (Koch) water purification system.
- Repair MARPOSS gauges and order replacement parts as needed.
- Solve system problems generally.
- Repair PPL gauges and order parts as needed.
- Manage and record water releases to state tributaries as required by Ohio EPA.
Skills Required
- Basic computer skills.
- Knowledge of Koch Membrane water purification systems.
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts.
Education Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ohio High Pressure Boiler Operator License.
