Job DescriptionFollow all health, safety, and environmental requirements; perform cleanup duties; perform material handling and storage duties; identify, use, and care for common hand and power tools; use and care for craft-specific tools and equipment; apply craft-related mathematics; adhere to safety standards and best practices relevant to rigging, inspect rigging equipment and hardware; understand common hitches, emergency stop signals, basic crane hand signals, knot tying (bowline & clove hitch), and use of rigging equipment;
set, maintain, and remove lane closures and support operations such as Maintenance of Traffic (MOT); work with supervision and crew members to create work zones, provide transportation management, and implement temporary traffic control on streets and highways; work both day and night shifts for MOT; serve as flagman to control traffic flow around construction sites; communicate effectively with construction personnel and motorists;
place cones, barriers, and signage to direct traffic; use hand signals to divert or control traffic; establish and monitor traffic zones, and retrieve cones and flags after work completion; assist with setup and breakdown of construction sites; monitor access to the worksite; record license numbers of traffic violators and report incidents; respond quickly to environmental changes to maintain safety; perform other duties as assigned.
Mental Demands:
Understand and follow oral and written instructions; work at heights; recognize and report safety hazards; assemble/disassemble objects; operate equipment and tools.
Physical Demands:
Observe hazards and warnings; lift up to 50 lbs; climb ladders and scaffolding; kneel, reach, and demonstrate manual dexterity.
Working Conditions:
Work in extreme temperatures, noisy environments, wet/humid conditions, cramped spaces, and varying ventilation; both indoors and outdoors.
