Job DescriptionOur client is seeking a Director of Accounting who will lead the accounting function, overseeing a team of accountants, and ensuring timely, accurate financial reporting.
The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in manufacturing environments with strong inventory & cost accounting, proven leadership skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, PE-backed company organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team across AP, AR, payroll, and general accounting functions.
- Oversee the month-end close process, reducing the reporting timeline to a 5-day close timeline.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
- Manage fixed assets, expense reporting, and cost accounting for inventory.
- Partner with external auditors, tax advisors, and the private equity sponsor on reporting and compliance matters.
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with GAAP.
- Drive process improvements and implement best practices across the accounting function.
- Provide financial insights and reporting to support executive decision-making.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, supply chain, and leadership to align financial processes with business objectives.
- Prepare the accounting function to support long-term strategic objectives, ensuring adaptability for evolving business needs.
Qualifications:
- CPA required or strongly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; advanced degree a plus.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles. Public accounting foundation is a plus.
- Experience in manufacturing or similar companies with inventory and cost accounting.
- Strong background in transactional accounting (AP, AR, payroll, GL, etc).
- Prior experience in a private equity-owned environment is a plus.
- Proven leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills with a hands-on, problem-solving approach.
