Linden Oaks formerly Speech and Language Development Center is a non-profit school and therapy center serving children and young adults, with a private special education school serving students K-12+. Based on more than 65 years of knowledge, skill and success, SLDC provides remediation for language/learning, emotional/social and neurologically-based needs to students with a broad scope of diagnoses, including Autism Spectrum Disorder.
We are currently seeking teachers with a moderate-severe teaching credential for our high school program and elementary programs. Ideal candidates will have experience working with students with special needs including but not limited to:
Autism Spectrum Disorders, Intellectual Disabilities, Speech and Communication Disorders and Other Health Impairments.
Join our growing team at our Buena Park campus. This position will join our teaching faculty of 16+ other Education Specialist and work alongside our team of nearly 24 therapists providing truly interdisciplinary programs to best support our students needs.
Responsibilities- Provides research-based specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP).
- Assesses student progress and determines the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques.
- Employs various teaching techniques, methods and principles of learning, to enable students to meet their IEP goals.
- Collaborates with parents, related services, supervisor and school district personnel to develop and present IEP.
- Develops and implements annual IEP plans for students to include: present levels of educational performance, special education needs, instructional goals and objectives, and the special education and related services required to meet those goals.
- Establishes rapport and maintain on-going communication with parents, related services, supervisor, administrative staff and school district personnel.
- Provides training, direction, supervision, and performance management of paraprofessionals.
- Ensures a safe environment for all students and staff. Develops and implements classroom and individual student behavior management.
- Other duties, as assigned, to support Linden Oaks students, clients, staff, and mission.
- Moderate/Severe Credential, Mild/Moderate Credential with Autism Authorization or Intern Credential Eligibility
- Minimum of 2+ years in an educational related setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Valid form of identification.
This is a supervisory position.
