Accounts Payable Clerk

Description We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to support day-to-day payment operations for a Contract position based in Cheektowaga, New York. This role is ideal for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and confident handling a high volume of invoices with accuracy. The selected candidate will help keep vendor payments on schedule while maintaining reliable financial records and consistent processing standards.

Responsibilities:

- Review incoming invoices, assign the correct accounting codes, and prepare them for timely entry into the payment workflow.

- Process accounts payable transactions accurately while ensuring supporting documentation is complete and aligned with company procedures.

- Coordinate scheduled check runs and confirm approved payments are issued within established deadlines.

- Verify invoice details against purchase records or other backup materials to resolve discrepancies before payment.

- Maintain organized payable files and update records so transaction histories are easy to track and audit.

- Communicate with internal teams and vendors to answer payment questions and follow up on outstanding items. Requirements - Experience supporting accounts payable functions in a fast-paced business environment.

- Working knowledge of invoice coding, invoice entry, and payment processing procedures.

- Ability to manage check runs with strong attention to timing and accuracy.

- Solid data entry skills and a high level of precision when handling financial information.

- Comfortable reviewing documents, identifying discrepancies, and following through on corrections.

- Strong organizational and communication skills to work effectively with vendors and internal stakeholders.
