Accounts Payable Clerk

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to support daily financial operations for a busy organization in Cheektowaga, New York. This long-term contract position is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable managing high-volume invoice activity with accuracy and consistency. The person in this role will help maintain timely payment processes while contributing to the overall efficiency of the accounting function.

Responsibilities:

• Review incoming invoices for accuracy, completeness, and proper supporting documentation before processing.
• Assign correct accounting codes to vendor invoices and enter payment details into the appropriate system.
• Prepare and support routine check runs to ensure vendors are paid on schedule.
• Reconcile invoice records and resolve discrepancies by coordinating with internal departments and external vendors.
• Maintain organized accounts payable files and ensure documentation is accessible for audits and reporting needs.
• Monitor payment timelines and follow established procedures to keep transactions current and compliant.
• Assist with general accounts payable activities that improve workflow efficiency and reporting accuracy.
