Please note, this is NOT a remote position and requires that the successful candidate be in the office to fulfill their work duties. The Legal Assistant will provide crucial administrative and clerical support to lawyers by managing calendars, preparing legal documents, handling correspondence, and maintaining client files, all while ensuring efficient and smooth office operations. Ability to organize tasks, prioritize workloads, and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and partners. Competence with common office software, such as Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat, and experience using case management software which is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and proper formatting of all legal documents. Ability to handle various tasks simultaneously and resolve issues as they arise. Provide secretarial support to one or more attorneys, managing schedules, arranging meetings, and handling daily administrative tasks.
Prepare, edit, and proofread legal documents, including correspondence, motions, petitions, and contracts, ensuring accuracy and proper formatting. Greet and assist clients, answer phone calls and emails, take messages, and relay information between clients, attorneys, and other parties. Maintain organized case files, manage legal databases, and preserve updated case records. Maintain and update attorneys’ calendars, schedule appointments, court dates, and depositions, and provide timely reminders.
File and backup legal documents using company software, ensuring all court documents are prepared and filed before deadlines.
