AboutThe Role
Ferguson Electric’s Safety Professional, Line Division, reporting to the Director of Safety, will support the implementation and enforcement of Ferguson Electric’s safety program to ensure safe operations across all projects involving our Line Division activities. This role focuses on promoting a culture of safety, conducting field inspections, providing training, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, county, and local safety regulations all while strongly upholding and promoting the organization’s core values.
WhatYou Will Do
- Field Safety Implementation:
- Daily review of all tailboards. Ensuring completeness, thoroughness and legibility of all forms.
- Conducting daily/site audits and inspections to ensure compliance with tailboards, proper application of safety standards and identification of potential hazards.
- Monitor the proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) on job sites.
- Safety Program Support:
- Assist in implementing and enforcing company safety policies, procedures, and programs as directed by the Director of Safety.
- Support the maintenance of the safety management system, including updating safety manuals, documents, and customer portals.
- Support project managers and field teams in implementing project-specific safety plans and procedures.
- Help track and report safety goals, objectives, and key performance indicators.
- Training and
Education:- Assist in delivering safety training programs to employees, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
- Educate field staff on OSHA standards, company safety policies, and industry best practices.
- Promote awareness of safety protocols through toolbox talks and safety briefings.
- Compliance and Documentation:
- Ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards and other applicable regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and training sessions.
- Assist in preparing project-specific safety plans, reports, and documentation for clients and regulatory agencies.
- Incident Response and Investigation:
- Support the investigation of workplace incidents, near‑misses, and accidents, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Assist in documenting incident reports and communicating findings to the Director of Safety and relevant stakeholders.
- Collaboration:
- Work closely with project managers, field crews, and subcontractors to foster a culture of safety and accountability.
- Coordinate with the Director of Safety to address safety concerns and implement improvements.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners to ensure alignment with safety objectives.
- Education and Experience:
- Associate’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field;
Bachelor’s degree preferred. - 2+ years of occupational health and safety experience, preferably in the construction or electrical contracting industry.
- Blue CUSP certificated.
- OSHA 10 or 30‑hour certification in Construction Safety is highly desirable.
- Associate’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field;
- Technical
Skills:- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with safety management software or systems.
- Basic knowledge of asset management/work order systems or GIS applications is a plus.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong communication skills, both oral and written, to engage with employees, subcontractors, and management.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build rapport with diverse stakeholders.
- Proactive problem‑solving skills with a focus on attention to detail and accountability.
- Other Requirements:
- Working knowledge of OSHA standards and construction safety practices.
- Ability to conduct field inspections and training sessions in various work environments.
- Willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
