Overview

The Department of Clinical Genomics at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center is a novel primary care-adjacent cancer-risk medical specialty home to diagnose and provide ongoing precision care for patients and families at high risk of cancer because of genetics or family history. Our Genetic Counseling service offers genetic counseling and testing. Our Genetic Medicine service oversees and coordinates the medical management of our patients and families, including the latest surveillance and prevention options.

The team currently consists of a physician, two advanced practice providers, three board-certified genetic counselors, and excellent support staff. We are rapidly growing.

Summary: The Department of Clinical Genomics is seeking a full-time BC/BE MD, MD/PhD, or DO who has completed ACGME-approved residency training in Med/Peds, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics to join our dynamic team. Experience caring for cancer patients or with cancer genetics is a plus but is not required, as is 3+ years’ experience post-specialty training as an independent practitioner.

Responsibilities

Reporting to Kenan Onel, MD, PhD, the successful candidate will serve as a key driver of precision prevention and wellness for high-risk patients and families. The candidate will oversee and coordinate ongoing care for both children and adults, taking advantage of the many high-risk specialty clinics at Roswell Park that are affiliated with the Department. They will drive clinical innovation, optimize patient care, and enhance the center’s reputation as a global leader in cancer risk.

There are ample opportunities for professional development and leadership in our Department, such as leading clinical trials, mentoring of students, residents, and fellows, and academic clinical/translational research. Clinical cancer genetics is a fast paced and rapidly evolving field, with plenty of room for growth. It is a unique opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a new and burgeoning field.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

License to practice as a Medical Doctor in the State of New York. Possession of or eligibility for a valid medical specialty certificate in General Internal Medicine, Family Practice or other related medical specialty. Medical Doctor degree in General Internal Medicine.

Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.
