Osteopathic Medicine - Foundations of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences
Join D'Youville University as a Faculty in Foundations of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. The College of Osteopathic Medicine (COM) in Buffalo, NY, invites applications for this role, which may include subject matters such as anatomy, microbiology, physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, and pathology.
The Faculty in Foundations of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences will be responsible for instruction to osteopathic medical students, compliance with the policies and requirements of the Division, and working closely with other faculties and the Associate Deans of Preclinical and Clinical Education.
Job Responsibilities:
- Develop and finalize curricula for Preclinical Education in the first two years of medical school.
- Participate in and supervise the delivery of the course curriculum, ensuring excellence in instructing osteopathic medical students.
- Participate in research and scholarly activities, including publications and presentations.
- Mentor and advise students, both in groups and individually.
- Continuously work for student improvement, helping prepare students for the COMLEX exams and contributing to laying a strong foundation for osteopathic medical education.
- Participate in the assessment and evaluation of students and offer remedial intervention when needed.
- Collaborate with faculties in other departments and research faculties.
- Participate in acquiring, setting up, and maintaining instructional materials.
- Participate in the institution’s committees to enhance academics in the COM.
- Follow safety and departmental protocols and stay up-to-date with training requirements.
- Act as a role model for osteopathic medical students, other faculties, the university, and the community.
- Provide service to the COM, the university, and the greater community.
Qualifications Required:
- DO or MD;
PhD in biomedical sciences or a related specialty. - At least 3 years of experience in teaching large and small-group settings to osteopathic medical students or other professional or postgraduate students.
- Experience and comfort in preparing and maintaining instructional materials.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in teaching subject matters such as anatomy, microbiology, physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology, and pathology.
- Experience in teaching/reviewing materials specific to Osteopathic manipulative medicine (OMM)/Osteopathic Principles and Practice (OPP).
- Experience and eagerness in research and scholarly activity.
- Publications in notable scientific journals and other scholarly activities.
- Experience and comfort in teaching clinical aspects of some specialties in the first two years of medical school.
