Academic/Instructional Position Summary The Computer Teacher is responsible for planning and delivering engaging technology and computer-related instruction to students. The teacher provides instruction appropriate to students' grade levels and abilities while helping students develop computer literacy, digital skills, problem-solving abilities, and responsible use of technology.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Plan, prepare, and deliver computer and technology instruction aligned with school curriculum and instructional goals.

Teach students fundamental computer skills, software applications, digital literacy, and age-appropriate technology concepts.

Provide instruction in areas such as keyboarding, word processing, presentations, spreadsheets, internet research, digital citizenship, coding, and other technology-related subjects as appropriate.

Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, projects, assignments, and assessments.

Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying abilities and learning styles.

Teach students appropriate, safe, and responsible use of computers, internet resources, and digital technology.

Establish and maintain effective classroom management procedures.

Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records of grades, attendance, and performance.

Assess student learning and provide timely feedback.

Encourage creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration through technology-based activities.

Maintain a classroom environment that is safe, organized, respectful, and conducive to learning.

Monitor the appropriate use and care of classroom computers, devices, and other instructional technology.

Report equipment problems or technology issues to the appropriate school personnel.

Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, teachers, administrators, and other school personnel.

Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school activities as required.

Follow all school policies, procedures, and applicable educational requirements.

Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and school matters.

Perform other instructional and school-related duties as assigned by the building administrator.

Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Education, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.

Appropriate New York State teaching certification or eligibility, when required.

Knowledge of computer applications, educational technology, and current digital-learning practices.

Strong classroom-management and communication skills.

Ability to work effectively with students of varying ages, abilities, and backgrounds.

Ability to integrate technology into classroom instruction.

Strong organizational, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.

Commitment to creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Physical Requirements The position requires the ability to perform normal classroom teaching duties, including standing, walking, sitting, using computers and other technology, and assisting students with classroom activities.

Work Environment The Computer Teacher works primarily in a classroom, computer laboratory, or other instructional setting. The position may require the use and supervision of computers, tablets, audiovisual equipment, and other educational technology.
