First Grade Teacher; Long-Term Substitute

Nardin Academy Lower School seeks a long-term substitute to implement first grade lesson plans in a self-contained classroom of fifteen students. The teacher will deliver whole-group and small-group instruction in reading, math, social studies, science, and religion. Curriculum and planning support is provided.

The selected candidate will have the opportunity for a paid shadowing period in December to observe classroom routines and protocols for two weeks.

• Plan and deliver instruction across all areas of the first-grade curriculum
• Assess student progress and communicate it to parents and colleagues
• Keep students safe and maintain a positive, well-managed classroom
• Communicate regularly with parents and families
• Collaborate with grade-level and school colleagues

Required:

• Minimum:
  Bachelor’s Degree with Teaching Experience or Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching
• Ability to support the mission of a Catholic school

Preferred:

• Master’s degree
• New York State teaching certification
• Orton-Gillingham experience or certification
• Teaching experience in grades K–4
