Lead Chemical Process Engineer

We are an employee‑owned company with over 11,000 diverse and skilled individuals. GHD is looking for a Lead Chemical Process Engineer to join their team in Buffalo, NY. In this role you will showcase your technical expertise in process design for cutting‑edge projects that span environmental, chemical, and petrochemical sectors.
Responsibilities- Prepare P&IDs, mass/energy balances and design equipment, sizing pipes and pumps, and develop bid and construction documents.
- Lead design engineering solutions and the associated validation process to enable the realization of a design brief that conforms to organizational and/or regulatory standards.
- Analyze information, draft engineering standards and specifications, and evaluate the effectiveness of those standards within the engineering discipline.
- Develop policies and processes, create best practices, set up case studies, and deliver internal knowledge‑sharing sessions.
- Recommend complex or innovative technical developments to improve quality and efficiency.
- Lead and oversee the provision of professional supervision to support practitioners' professional development.
- Conduct complex feasibility studies and document findings for cost‑benefit analysis of changes to business processes or products.
- Manage a portfolio of projects while reporting to senior colleagues.
- Manage important client relationships with guidance from senior colleagues.
- Mentor junior staff, lead proposal efforts, and respond to RFIs and feasibility discussions.
- Serve as a key liaison within the EDO, supporting multi‑discipline projects and collaborating with clients and internal teams.

Qualifications- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer license a plus.
- 15–20 years of experience in Process Design preferred.
- Proficient in engineering design software:
Aspen Hysys, Pipe Flo, Synergi Pipeline Simulator. - Ability to read and understand P&’s and other process equipment installation drawings.
- Knowledge of construction drawings and detailed subject area requirements.
- Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to conduct meetings and presentations.
- Ability to collaborate with multi‑discipline technical teams and general understanding within each.
- Willingness to make field trips to review project scopes; travel up to 10% with some overnight stays.
$112,000 – $188,000 based on experience and location.
