Field Engineer II – Greenlight Networks
Greenlight Networks’ Field Engineer II is an integral part of the fiber design and construction process, contributing to the buildout of new networks and expansion of existing networks. The Field Engineer II assists Outside Plant Engineers with coordination of Engineering Construction Management through all phases of an outside plant build to ensure plans are completed as designed. This position directly impacts our ability to quickly solve design and construction issues while identifying cost savings opportunities.
EssentialJob Functions
- Follow HOA/MDU and Business projects from initial walkout to project close out.
- Conduct site surveys and complete Methods of Procedures (MOP) for commercial and/or HOA/MDU builds.
- Conduct walkouts to inspect ongoing construction and completed work for accuracy and adherence to Greenlight Networks’ standards.
- Engineer necessary district redesigns for real life construction application (Field Revisions).
- Coordinate with Construction Coordinators to verify as built documentation.
- May perform tasks in the Field Engineer I role (easement procurement and pole survey tasks).
- Participate as an active contributor to cross‑functional internal teams to help drive clear decision making in the buildout and maintenance of our network.
- Ability to travel within all Greenlight markets as needed.
- Assist with other Engineering tasks as assigned.
- Some experience in telecom, fiber network design or outside plant construction.
- Knowledge of current state, county, municipal construction standards.
- Ability to effectively manage processes and deliverables associated with multiple projects.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi‑task.
- Demonstrate collaboration skills with internal and external parties to achieve company goals and objectives.
- Ability to effectively establish working relationships with outside entities for the purpose of executing Greenlight’s business needs.
- Experience reading blueprints, conduit prints, and floor plans.
- Comfortable using a computer, MS Office products, Adobe Acrobat, Visio, Bluebeam, Google Earth and various software packages and web‑based products.
- A willingness to learn to read, create, and interpret technical documents, fiber maps, and as‑built drawings, and legal documents related to easements and rights‑of‑way.
- Ability to successfully communicate with contractors and vendors performing work.
- Post‑education in a related field preferred; minimum of three years’ experience in the telecommunications engineering or construction industry required.
- Experience with a GIS or fiber design tool such as Bentley Fiber, Lode Data, Vetro, ArcGIS, OSP Insight, 3‑GIS, or QGIS.
- Experience working with Rights of Way, private easements, existing utilities (water, sewer, power, gas, poles, etc.) required.
- Must have a valid New York State driver’s license.
- Experience and/or knowledge of fiber network design or construction required.
- Experience and/or knowledge of utility poles and attachments required.
The salary range for this role is between $63,000 – $73,000. The actual salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
