Company OverviewMoog Western New York Defense Group is projecting significant growth driven by an increase in new design and development. This has been bolstered by recent high profile defense contract awards with our strategic customers and subsequent internal investments in IR&D and business capture opportunities. The position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Security Clearance and access to U.S. export‑controlled information.
Qualifications- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering with 10 years of relevant engineering experience or a Master's Degree and 8 years of relevant design experience.
- Experience interfacing with customers and demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to mentor and coach other engineers.
- Can understand new technical concepts and products. Utilize these skills to understand risks and take appropriate action.
- Practical knowledge and/or experience with technical drawing practices and GD&T standards.
- 3D CAD modeling experience.
- Lead the mechanical design effort for applications including missile steering actuation systems and critical positioning systems. Prior knowledge and competency in servomechanism, servo valves, and control is preferred.
- Apply your expertise in design for manufacturing. Work with peer engineers and technicians to inform the design for manufacturability.
- Support the detailed analyses for our products including CAD layout, GD&T tolerance analysis, dynamic, structural and thermal analysis capability, and understanding. Basic understanding and knowledge of brushless motor sizing and operation.
- Direct other engineers to generate conceptual designs/drawings, and/or conduct that work individually.
- Ensure drawings are complete and accurate, using GD&T methodologies to meet design, manufacturing and inspection requirements.
- Apply Moog standard products to meet new mission requirements.
- Work in Teamcenter/NX or comparable CAD application.
- Present your work to colleagues and to customers.
- Mentor and coach other design engineers.
This role is an onsite position within Moog WNY Defense location in East Aurora, New York.
