Work ScheduleOnsite – Buffalo, NY (Typical hours: 7 am – 3 pm, M‑F)
Role SummaryThe Sr. Manufacturing Engineer works closely with design engineering during both pre‑production and production phases to ensure hardware designs are compatible with welding and manufacturing capabilities. This role is responsible for developing efficient welding processes for electron beam and orbital welding, preparing tooling and gauging requirements, and supporting complex assemblies and machined parts for weld. Additionally, the Weld Engineer creates and validates CNC programs related to welded assemblies, writes detailed operation sheets and process documentation, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, cost, and delivery performance.
Responsibilities- Design and implement welding processes that meet quality and cost objectives.
- Team with Manufacturing Engineering, Assembly & Test and other departments to optimize product designs & fixturing for weldability.
- Collaborate with outside vendors/machine shop to identify source of supply for the manufacturing of the design.
- Work with the proposal group to provide process, time estimates & fixturing needs.
- Develop and maintain accurate process documentation and CNC programs.
- Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and company standards.
- Drive process improvements using lean principles and advanced welding technologies.
- Training & mentoring to technically guide tool designers and manufacturing engineers.
- Associate’s degree + 10 years of relevant experience preferred; equivalent industry experience accepted in lieu of degree.
- Aerospace industry experience preferred.
- Must have experience with electron beam and orbital welding processes.
- Knowledge of welding processes, tooling design, and quality control methods.
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented environment.
- Proficiency in CNC programming and process documentation.

Salary Range DisclaimerThe base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance.
