Overview
Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join our growing Bridges & Structures team in New York! Candidates are sought in the Albany, Rochester, Buffalo, and Syracuse areas.
Our bridge experts partner with clients to understand project objectives, formulating solutions that result in successful outcomes that are safe, efficient, economical and environmentally sensitive. This highly skilled team offers a full range of bridge services from scoping, planning and preliminary engineering through final design, for small to large‑scale bridges.
Responsibilities- Lead the technical design and assigned staff on bridge projects.
- Develop work plans for bridge designs while coordinating with other disciplines.
- Perform cost estimating, develop specifications/construction documents, and lead construction phase support tasks.
- Assist in the mentoring and development of design staff.
- Participate in the development and updates of internal standards of practice.
- Perform quality control and assurance checks on design computations, computer modeling, CAD drawings, reports, estimates and specifications.
- Serve as a point of contact for clients, other design professionals, and contractors.
- Act as quality coordinator for discipline‑led projects.
- Assist in the development of technical narratives, scope and fee for project pursuits.
- May serve on professional association committees.
- May stamp/sign drawings or reports and/or serve as Engineer of Record for the project.
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering is required; master's degree is a plus.
- 8+ years of professional design engineering work related to bridges or structures is required.
- PE license required in New York State (or through reciprocity).
- Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil3D and/or Micro Station is a plus.
- Strong work ethic and willingness for continued learning.
- Knowledge of NYSDOT, AASHTO and AREMA design codes a plus.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job‑related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
Compensation: $91,105 to $124,400 per year (depending on qualifications)
