Role descriptionArcadis is currently searching for a Entry Level Energy/Mechanical Engineer to support our growing energy group. This position can be based in any location in New York State. The role will help grow and deliver engineering design, energy efficiency, electrification, decarbonization, commissioning, renewable generation and other clean energy and energy‑related projects throughout the U.S., primarily focused in the Northeast U.S.
Role accountabilities- Support project execution & delivery focused primarily on HVAC and plumbing design of systems identified through energy audits to support facility‑or enterprise‑wide decarbonization strategies (e.g. energy‑efficiency, building/fleet electrification, and behind‑the‑meter/net‑metered distributed renewable generation).
- Support to review building and energy codes, perform load calculations, equipment sizing and selection, systems evaluation, HVAC design and specifications, capable of working with AutoCAD or Revit for project drawings.
- Support commissioning and construction management of energy efficiency projects to ensure systems are designed, installed and operated to the owner’s project requirements and building codes.
- Gather information; evaluate, analyze, and support visualization of energy use data; complete energy efficiency, distributed generation, and alternative energy calculations; complete building and system modeling; complete technical and financial calculations.
- Perform or oversee engineering analyses, modeling, and calculations to support execution and delivery of feasibility studies, energy audits, sustainability plans, and detailed designs.
- Support or coordinate field activities associated with clean energy projects including energy audits, lighting inventories, implementation oversight, and measurement and verification.
- Support or coordinate field activities and construction management associated with clean energy projects including energy audits, lighting inventories, implementation oversight, measurement and verification, and other on‑site construction support.
- Correspond with task managers, project managers, project teams, and clients.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and a robust work ethic. Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities are essential, along with the capability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Candidates should be self‑motivated, dependable, and willing to take ownership of tasks, with a flexible approach to new assignments and challenges.
A solid understanding of engineering concepts related to building and mechanical systems, energy efficiency, and clean energy technologies is required, while knowledge of building control, power, and lighting systems is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) is expected, and familiarity with AutoCAD or Autodesk Revit is advantageous. Willingness to participate in a combination of office work, field assignments, and travel is preferred.
& Experience
- 0–2 years of prior work or internship experience in consulting engineering or other business working in the MEP or clean energy sectors.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architecture, Energy Engineering, or a related technical degree with proven work experience.

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $49,390–$79,023 per year.
Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
