Faculty Positions In Transportation Systems Engineering University At Buffalo, State Univer

The Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering (CSEE) at the University at Buffalo (UB), State University of New York, invites applications from outstanding candidates for two tenure-track faculty positions in transportation systems engineering starting in August 2018. Priority is for candidates at the assistant professor level, although highly qualified individuals will be considered at the associate or full professor level.

We are particularly looking for candidates who can operate effectively in a diverse community of students and faculty and share our vision of helping all constituents reach their full potential. These positions will expand and strengthen the current faculty capabilities and capitalize on a recent endowment for the Stephen Still Institute for Sustainable Transportation and Logistics (ISTL), a joint initiative between UB’s School of Engineering and Applied Sciences and School of Management.

The new hires will support departmental growth in transportation systems engineering and will be an integral part of the ISTL team.

The ideal candidates will have a solid skill set in mathematical modeling with a systems perspective, and a philosophical orientation that leverages large datasets targeting the interface of mobility, safety, sustainability, and resilience in multimodal transportation systems. Specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to:

Successful candidates are expected to establish and maintain an internationally recognized research program, contribute to teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses, and provide service to the University and the profession. They are also anticipated to seek collaborative opportunities with MCEER, the Institute for Bridge Engineering, the UB Center for Computational Research, New York State Center for Engineering Design and Industrial Innovation, and other campus-wide initiatives.
