Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center is seeking an Audiologist to work full‑time or part‑time. A flexible, part‑time position is available at our Amherst clinic, while full‑time hours—starting at 32.5 hours per week—can also be arranged and may include travel to another BHSC clinic.
The BHSC Audiology clinic is a medically‑oriented, pediatrics‑heavy practice. The Audiologist evaluates a full range of diagnostics, including newborn hearing screening follow‑up. BHSC offers a generous PTO package, flexible scheduling, and employment that counts towards the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
Job SummaryThe Audiologist evaluates an individual’s hearing to determine the presence and extent of impairment. Non‑medical rehabilitation—including hearing aid evaluation and selection, speech‑reading training, and auditory training—is provided. Prevention of hearing impairment is also part of the role through hearing conservation.
Essential Functions- Interview patients to obtain history related to hearing problems and functional communication.
- Administer audiology procedures (hearing evaluations, hearing aid fittings, etc.) using professional judgment in test selection.
- Formulate and administer a treatment plan, which may include aural rehabilitation.
- Counsel and instruct patients regarding evaluation results and treatment.
- Write reports and maintain patient records.
- Participate in staff meetings arranged by the Supervisor of Audiology or Director of Clinical Services.
- Represent Buffalo Hearing & Speech Center at community events such as health fairs, open houses, senior citizen center activities, and nursing home activities.
- Participate in the Center's Quality Assurance Program.
- Perform any other duties as requested by the supervisor.
- Experience with sophisticated testing equipment and accurate administration of testing procedures.
- Thorough knowledge of the auditory system and its disorders, including audio logical procedures and management.
- Excellent interpersonal skills for establishing and maintaining patient relationships.
- Adherence to the Code of Ethics established by the American Speech‑Language and Hearing Association.
- Sound judgment.
Degree from an accredited university in Audiology.
Required Licenses / Registration / Certification- New York State License in Audiology.
- New York State License in Hearing Aid Dispensing.
- Vision, speech, tactile, and hearing senses adequate to perform job requirements.
- Frequent sitting/standing and, when appropriate, floor sitting with pediatric patients.
