The Division of Population Health within the Department of Medicine seeks a Health Educator. In this role, you will deliver protocol‑driven health education interventions to study participants via face‑to‑face, telephone, or videoconferencing technology as appropriate. The ideal candidate practices strategic thinking, attention to detail, dependability, enjoys collaboration in a fast‑paced environment, and remains flexible.
Primary Functions Protocol‑driven health education and participant support tasks- Delivering protocol‑driven health education interventions to study participants.
- Scheduling, coordinating sessions, attending supervision sessions, recording sessions as directed, and collecting research health educator data during initial and follow‑up visits.
- Organizing and reminding study participants of upcoming appointments.
- Training study participants on key elements of the study protocol.
- Collecting blood and other biological specimen samples.
- Measuring and recording vital signs and anthropometric measures.
- Reviewing, calibrating, and performing quality control assessments of laboratory equipment.
- Serving as a liaison with lab staff to triage and interpret results.
- Assisting with multiple research grants as needed, supporting the PI in writing and presenting research reports and protocols.
- Performing duties needed, including case management and decision‑making, working collaboratively with other center personnel to achieve research study goals.
- Serving as liaison to various team members to ensure smooth running of research projects.
- Providing health education to community sites, establishing and nurturing community partnerships, and working with designated community sites to advance the center’s mission.
- Knowledge of biology, clinical judgement, documentation, records management, and cultural awareness.
- Building trust, collaboration, decision‑making skills, communication, critical thinking, and influencing skills.
- Customer focus, interpersonal skills, empathy, listening, and patience.
Full‑time role with coverage during core business hours and flexibility for business needs.
