Summary

The Ultrasound Technologist works as a member of the Ultrasound team, reporting to the Ultrasound Manager. This role provides ultrasound‑based imaging to patients and supports the patient experience throughout their time ective communication between departments and exemplary patient care must be maintained. The role performs a variety of tasks beyond ultrasound imaging including patient calls, chart documentation, and assistance with patient and coworker needs.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Operate ultrasound equipment from various manufacturers, selecting correct technical factors tailored to each patient and exam.
  • Assist the radiologist with semi‑invasive ultrasound procedures.
  • Prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process, ensuring comfort, and positioning them for optimal imaging.
  • Verify accuracy of orders prior to examining the patient.
  • Review previous imaging and tailor the exam accordingly.
  • Review images for clarity, consistency, and quality to ensure diagnostic accuracy.
  • Enter data in the Radiology Information System, assuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide detailed reports of findings in written and/or oral form to radiologists.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area, perform quality control processes, and ensure patient safety.
  • Attend to the medical needs of patients at all times, maintaining patient modesty.
  • Clean transducers after each exam, performing high‑level disinfection for endovaginal probes and monitor disinfectant solution monthly.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment as needed.
  • Operate standard imaging equipment and software, including PACS/RIS computer and Healthe Link.
  • Restock supplies and maintain an order list.
  • Assist PSR team and/or administrative staff when necessary.
  • Help fellow technologists when available.
  • Attend all required staff meetings, training seminars, and designated meetings.
  • Other duties as needed; overtime may be required.
Necessary Skills
  • Ability to perform each duty listed above.
  • Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and sonographic techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including use of information systems and Google‑based programs.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Problem‑solving skills.

Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree (AAS) and subsequent ultrasound technical program or Bachelor’s Degree in Ultrasound.
  • RDMS and RVT credentials.
  • CPR/BLS certification is required.
  • 2 years of previous experience preferred.
Physical and Mental Requirements
  • May be asked to lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Standing, walking, sitting, and keyboard use for long periods.
  • Ability to listen and communicate with patients face‑to‑face or over the phone.
  • Must be able to read, write, and work in a fast‑paced office setting.
  • Ability to make decisions and think quickly.
  • Must have mental and physical capabilities to perform all tasks listed above.
