Job summary: The Sterile Processing Technician or Trainee collects, cleans, decontaminates, disinfects, and/or sterilizes surgical instruments, trays and packs, reusable medical devices and patient care equipment according to established standards and procedures to ensure a sterile and functioning supply of materials and equipment. The Trainee position is a training role that may lead to full performance as a Technician.
Compensation:
- Starting annual salary for Sterile Processing Technician Trainee: $40,237
- Starting annual salary for Sterile Processing Technician: $44,396
Qualifications (Required for Technician)
- Certification:
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) from IAHCSMM, Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) from CBSPD, or equivalent certification from a nationally accredited central service technician credentialing organization recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. - Education:
High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma.
Qualifications (Required for Trainee)
- Education:
High School Diploma or High School Equivalency Diploma. - Must obtain certification (CRCST or CSPDT or equivalent) within one (1) year of appointment as a condition of continued employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- CRCST or CBSPD certification and sterile processing experience.
- Basic computer skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
