What You'll Do- The temp will work closely with client HR and Legal teams on a primary project involving the creation, organization, storage, and maintenance of employee personnel files.
- The role will also include exposure to broader HR compliance, employee documentation, policy work, onboarding processes, and employment law research.
- The main project will be helping the client coordinate the creation, storage, and maintenance of personnel files across the organization.
- Designing a practical personnel file structure for physical and digital records.
- Helping evaluate appropriate storage systems and workflows for employee documentation.
- Developing a Standard Operating Procedure for personnel file storage, access, confidentiality, retention, and maintenance.
- Coordinating with HR stakeholders to identify needed file contents and documentation gaps.
- Supporting compliance with internal personnel file management procedures.
- Helping build a sustainable process that the client can continue to use after the internship ends.
- Assisting with completing an employee handbook update, including updates to state-specific supplements.
- Assisting with employment law compliance audits or internal reviews.
- Supporting onboarding documentation processes, including Form I-9 documentation workflows.
- Researching wage and hour compliance questions and multi-state employment law issues.
- Drafting, reviewing, or updating HR policies, procedures, templates, and employee-facing guidance.
- Assisting with employee relations matters or workplace investigation support, as appropriate.
- Supporting benefits administration, leave of absence tracking, and related HR documentation.
- Helping organize HR compliance materials, trackers, and reporting tools.
- Participating in meetings with HR, Legal, and business stakeholders to learn how employment issues are handled in a corporate environment.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2+ years of experience in supporting documentation, records management, policy development, compliance reviews, or administrative processes.
