Staff Assistant, VPSL Human Resources

University at Buffalo is hiring a Staff Assistant for VPSL Human Resources. The role involves coordinating personnel and business operations within the Division of Student Life, acting as a liaison for administrative and HR matters, managing onboarding and other HR processes, and supporting time and attendance system implementation.

• Coordinate personnel and business aspects of Student Life.
• Serve as liaison between the Director and professional staff on administrative and HR issues.
• Interpret research and statistical data related to HR functions.
• Manage onboarding, offboarding, performance management, leave, and other HR processes.
• Review personnel transactions for accuracy and compliance, addressing discrepancies.
• Provide initial HR consultation to employees and managers, applying university policies and collective bargaining agreements.
• Develop and distribute HR guidance and procedural resources.
• Support the university’s time and attendance system implementation and operations.
• Required skills include experience with Kronos or similar time and attendance software and working in a unionized, higher education HR environment.
• Compensation is $27.50 per hour for a part-time position expected to work less than 20 hours per week.
• Minimum qualifications:
  
  Associate degree with 2 years related experience or Bachelor’s degree.
