We're Hiring:
Principal Deployment Engineer
📍
Location:
Buffalo, NY | 💼 Full-Time
IK Systems is seeking a Principal Deployment Engineer to operate at the highest technical tier within our deployment engineering track. In this senior engineering role, you will lead the deployment of complex, large-scale security and low-voltage systems, including enterprise security platforms, AI-driven analytics, IP cameras, access control, intrusion alarm systems, and high-availability infrastructure. You will architect and configure servers, networks, and storage to support demanding environments and translate customer security and business objectives into robust technical solutions.
WhatYou'll Do
- Lead the planning and execution of complex system deployments, upgrades, and migrations for enterprise customers, ensuring integrated security systems (cameras, access control, alarms) are delivered on time and to specification.
- Architect end-to-end solutions across servers, virtualization platforms, storage, and network infrastructure to meet performance, resiliency, and security requirements, including support for high-availability environments.
- Design and implement high-availability, redundancy, and disaster recovery strategies, and provide advanced configuration and tuning of operating systems, databases, and security applications.
- Serve as the highest technical escalation point for field deployment issues and critical incidents, guiding Field Deployment Engineers and technicians through root-cause analysis and long-term remediation.
- Establish, document, and maintain deployment standards, templates, and best practices to ensure consistency and quality across low-voltage and security system integrations.
- Collaborate with Solutions Engineering, Sales, and Project Management to validate system designs, assess technical risk, plan deployment phases, and confirm systems meet contractual and internal quality standards through advanced validation and performance testing.
- Lead knowledge transfer and mentoring efforts, including training Field Deployment Engineers and Technicians on emerging technologies, integration practices, and troubleshooting methods.
- Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers on complex technical issues, feature requests, and roadmap alignment, and support security and compliance initiatives by incorporating industry best practices into deployments.
Education and Experience
You hold a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, information technology, computer science, or a related field, or possess equivalent experience. You bring 8+ years of progressive experience designing, deploying, and supporting complex networked security or infrastructure systems, including demonstrated leadership in major deployments within the security, low-voltage, networking, or systems integration space.
Skills
- Deep expertise in IP networking (routing, switching, VLANs, VPNs, QoS) and secure network design that supports IP video, access control, and alarm systems.
- Strong experience with virtualization platforms and high-availability server environments, as well as storage architectures such as SAN, NAS, and RAID.
- Proven background integrating enterprise physical security platforms-IP cameras, video management, access control, and intrusion systems-with IT infrastructure.
- Proficiency with Windows Server and/or Linux, databases (such as SQL), and advanced troubleshooting across devices, applications, servers, and network layers.
Certifications / Licenses
You hold a valid Driver's License and are able to travel to customer sites as needed to support project deployments and critical escalations.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include advanced vendor certifications (for example, Cisco professional-level, Microsoft, VMware, or major security platform certifications) and industry certifications such as BICSI, NICET, NYSESA, or Physical Security Professional (PSP). Experience with cloud-based or hybrid deployments, modern Dev Ops or automation practices, CPTED or similar design disciplines, and prior work defining standards, runbooks, and playbooks for technical teams is highly beneficial.
