Machinist

Overview

Machinist – Sherwood Electromotion Inc. – Orchard Park, NY.

• Perform all mechanical measurements related to rebuilding motor components and tooling.
• Apply basic mathematical calculations with understanding of tolerances and bearing fits.
• Read mechanical drawings and specifications to applicable standards.
• Operate mechanical instruments, calibration techniques and requirements.
• Implement undercutting, polishing, and finishing (e.g., deburring) as specified in ITRs.
• Use overhead cranes and material handling equipment.
• Interpret Internal Test Reports.
• Apply welding principles, including basic manual ARC welding.
• Operate pneumatic, hydraulic, and air tools.
• Understand safety concepts and ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management.
• Operate equipment:
  Milling Machine, Lathe Machine (setup and operation), Drill Press (vertical and radial), Undercutting machines and tools (automatic and manual), Balancing Machine, Brush Plating Machine (SIFCO).

• High School diploma or GED; preferred possession of a valid General Machinist Certificate of Qualification and a Certificate of Apprenticeship.
• Mechanical or electrical aptitude.
• Two (2) years of experience in a related industry.
