Set Up Bag Technician - 1st shift (Temp to Hire)

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 3 PM. Weekend overtime may be required.
Hiring type: Temp to Hire.
Pay: $20–$21 per hour, depending on experience.

- Set up bag machines according to customer orders, making appropriate adjustments and changing rolls promptly to ensure a constant supply of materials.
- Troubleshoot and fix set‑up issues to maintain quality pouch production.
- Communicate with bag operators to stay on the production schedule and ensure continuous operation.
- Operate bag machines during operator lunch or break.
- Organize the workplace by moving finished product to the correct location, recording and disposing of scrap and garbage, and maintaining a safe work area per Safety Quality Food requirements by shift end.
- Assist with special projects as required.
- Train new employees in bag department job functions.
- Collaborate with all departments to develop multi‑functional solutions for customers.
- Maintain a customer‑focused perspective and ensure customer needs are met.
- Perform job duties accurately so that other personnel and customers receive correct information and/or products.
- Adhere to all Pro Ampac policies and procedures to ensure safety, quality, and appropriate conduct.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years experience as a bag operator or equivalent.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and multi‑tasking skills.
- Ability to read, comprehend, write, and present information in one‑on‑one and small group settings.
- Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratio, percent and interpreting bar graphs.
- Ability to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions; handle problems involving several variables.
- Strong mechanical ability to make finite adjustments to machinery and use tools.
- Professional communication skills.
- Knowledge of flexographic packaging is a plus.
Manufacturing/warehouse setting. Requires hearing protection, safety shoes, vision protection, and other PPE. May encounter non‑toxic chemicals, inks, airborne dust, moving mechanical parts, high noise, hot/humid conditions.
Physical DemandsRegular use of plant machinery; may require certification. Routine work around moving equipment; standing for long periods. Tasks include lifting/moving up to 50 pounds, operating standard office equipment, standing, walking, reaching, and using hands and arms.
