Contract | Nights | 4x12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Key Responsibilities
Provide nursing care on a mixed-acuity unit serving PCU, MS Telemetry, and medical-surgical patients, with ratios adjusted by acuity.
Manage a diverse patient population including surgical pre/post-op (ENT, general surgery, trauma, ortho), overflow medical diagnoses, and rare pediatric patients (travelers not assigned to pediatric patients unless experienced).
Perform telemetry monitoring including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, titration of cardiac and insulin drips, and administration of thrombolytic agents and blood products.
Manage complex clinical needs including central lines, PICC lines, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac), tracheostomy, peripheral nerve block catheters, continuous bladder irrigation, and wound care/wound vac.
Utilize non-invasive airway management including CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), and interpret ABGs.
Float as needed to sister units (West 2, West 3, and Observation); every-other-weekend requirement applies.
Required Qualifications
Active New York State RN license required and must be in hand at time of submission.
Minimum 1 year of RN experience; PCU/IMC experience within the last 3 years is required.
Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSSEPIC experience is a hard requirement; familiarity with Pyxis and SBAR communication also required.
Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible.
Preferred Experience / Skills
PALS certification preferred.
TCAR (Transcarotid Artery Revascularization) experience preferred.
Experience with ortho trauma, total joint replacements, traction, and mastectomy care.
Experience managing substance withdrawal, CVA, and seizure disorder patients.
