Job SummaryThe Assistant Store Manager is accountable to the Store Manager and is responsible for directing, developing and managing store staff to protect company assets, maintain store conditions and presentation, maximizing sales and gross profits, customer and team member relations through proper controls such as sanitation, merchandising, payroll, required record keeping and compliance of Company, State and Federal policies, rules, procedures, regulations and laws.
MinimumRequired Qualifications
The minimum required qualifications for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Two-plus years related management experience. Associate Degree preferred or equivalent of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Maintains Food Safety Certification
- Ability to regularly stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear; sit and taste or smell; frequently lift and/or move certain objects.
- Specific vision requirements for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate will encounter while performing the essential functions of this job.
- While performing the duties of this job, the associate is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions as well as cold to hot temperatures.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Performance of the essential functions of this position require the Team Member to possess the minimum qualifications listed below. These functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Manages, supervises and provides leadership to 30-70 team members in the store.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training associates; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Maintains great store conditions per company standard every day; to include compliance with company and governmental sanitation and safety standards.
- Maximizes store sales and profitability
- Develops and maintains a team concept to improve associate morale, communication, community involvement and ultimately working conditions.
- Achieves or surpasses productivity and payroll goals in each department.
- Controls and executes shrink standards while ensuring proper inventory levels and control. Masters the CGO functionality.
- Establish and maintain a working relationship with all support staff:
Price Rite Staff, Vendors and Wakefern Staff. - Manages the necessary recruitment, development, training and counseling of all employees and identifies potential promo table people. Foster and promote a team culture that is engaged, fun, spirited and productive.
