Reporting to:
Director of Technical Operations
At RPM, we deliver custom scenic environments and high-energy live experiences. We are technically rigorous, creatively ambitious, resourceful under pressure, and willing to roll up our sleeves. We work hard together and for each other. We don’t just set up AV—we orchestrate moments that captivate audiences and leave a lasting impression.
We’re looking for a Technical Operations Lead / Video Technician who lives and breathes that kind of energy. Someone who can design signal flows in the shop, run point on show site, and elevate our technical execution on every single production. It’s more than setting up gear, it’s delivering experiences that matter.
You’ll have the opportunity to improve technical workflows, influence equipment and technology decisions, and help establish the systems and standards that support RPM's continued growth.
If you’ve got 4+ years of live event experience, a passion for storytelling through technology, and a hunger to grow with an expanding company, we want you on our team.
The Role:This is a 60/40 split between high-impact live event execution and shop-based technical orchestration. You'll work across the full production lifecycle, from building the technical plan to leading execution on site and preparing the team and equipment for what’s next.
Live Events:Technical Leadership & Execution (60%)
- Video & Show Control: You are our primary V1. You lead our on-site video deployments including live switching, media playback and signal routing on site.
- Video Processing & Display Systems: Driving Roland V160s for lean-and-fast productions and hardware like Barco E2 or Analog Way Aquilon processors for complex, multi-screen, immersive environments.
You will deploy custom LED video walls, high-lumen projection systems, and large-format displays. - Sonic Craft: We deploy Allen & Heath, Yamaha, and Sound craft consoles, delivering crystal clear audio through Meyer, QSC, and L-Acoustics sound systems. While we won’t require you to perform A1 duties, we will require that you can trouble shoot across audio-video systems.
- Client
Collaboration:
Serving as RPM's technical lead on site—working directly with clients and partners to give them the confidence they need to deliver their message and connecting with them to bring their vision to life.
Planning, Preparation, & Improvement (40%)
- Technical Planning: Architecting technical plans, signal flows, and power distribution before a single road case leaves the shop. Translate ambitious creative ideas into reliable technical solutions.
- Equipment & Logistics: Managing rental inventory, prepping show packs, organizing truck loads, and keeping our shop operations efficient, accurate, and production ready.
- R&D: Evaluate emerging event and audio-visual technologies. Implement practical methods of improving all our client engagements by applying exciting new tools to our events.
- Equipment Maintenance: Keeping our gear inventory bench-tested, repaired, organized, and ready for the next big push.
- Experienced: 4+ years in live event production, AV, rental and staging, or touring environments with the ability to troubleshoot across audio-visual systems. We will consider folks with under 4 years.
- Creative, tenacious approach: You know signal flow inside out and love finding elegant technical solutions for ambitious creative ideas. When the first approach doesn’t work, you find new approaches until you succeed.
- Stamina, Drive, & Responsibility: You are prepared, adaptable, and accountable. You want responsibility. You thrive in the live event…
