Application Developer (WSP USA)
WSP’s Visualization and Data Intelligence (VDI) national practice provides expert support for professional services consulting initiatives. As a team characterized by energy, creativity, and results‑orientation, VDI specializes in visual design and technological innovation on projects that contribute to community development nationwide.
WSP is seeking an Application Developer to join the VDI Web Team in Buffalo, NY (consideration will also be given to candidates based at other WSP office locations). The successful candidate will support a variety of consulting projects of differing complexity and duration, collaborating closely with colleagues and clients within a dynamic and adaptable work environment. The team’s approach integrates aspects of both agile (scrum) and waterfall development methodologies, tailored to meet client requirements and project objectives.
Responsibilities- Assist in the development and maintenance of scalable .NET web applications.
- Collaboratively work on front‑end development with a focus on accessibility and responsiveness.
- Implement UI/UX design execution in web applications.
- Stay current with industry trends and best practices.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, MIS, or related field.
- Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
- 3‑5 years custom development experience with ASP.NET/C# with a strong focus on UI/UX experience.
- Experience in front‑end frameworks (React preferred, or Vue, Angular, Blazor), HTML5, JavaScript (ES6+), CSS3, and JSON.
- Working knowledge in front‑end architecture, performance optimization, and cross‑browser testing.
- Working knowledge in one or more database technologies (Transact‑SQL with SQL Server, MySQL, etc.).
- Working knowledge with geospatial tools (Mapbox, Google Maps, or ArcGIS).
- Working knowledge in Microsoft platforms, frameworks, and tools.
- Working knowledge in Dev Ops/Git environment for version control.
- Working knowledge of AWS and Azure Cloud Environments.
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Self‑motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities.
- Experience in consulting or fast‑paced, multi‑project environments.
- Experience with CMS platforms (Umbraco, Kentico, Site Core, Word Press, etc.).
- Experience in accessibility standards (Section 508, WCAG 2.0), front‑end build tools (Webpack, Tailwind, Vite), and SEO best practices.
- Expected Salary: $85,000 – $100,000 (all locations).
