Sr Software Engineer

Valmar Holdings is looking for a Senior Software Engineer who doesn’t just write code—they build engines of innovation. Someone who’s as comfortable building clean, scalable systems as they are prompting tools like Claude Code or ChatGPT to ideate, refactor, and move fast.

Please note we’re only considering local candidates to the Buffalo, NY or Rochester, NY markets or candidates from outside these markets need to be open for relocation. This is not a remote role

• Architect and build scalable, resilient APIs and services using modern frameworks (React, Laravel, Go, etc.)
• Collaborate with the team to turn concepts into real, shipped features with impact
• Use AI-enhanced development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, etc.) to prototype, test, and accelerate your workflow
• Work across our stack: AWS (ECS, PHP, Go, Aurora), serverless infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and more
• Bring a startup mindset: hands‑on, adaptable, and fast—but never sloppy
• Contribute to code quality and documentation while mentoring junior engineers when needed

• 5+ years of experience in software development, with proven ability to deliver in a high‑velocity environment
• Strong knowledge of backend systems architecture, API design, and event‑driven workflows
• Familiarity with modern tooling (Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor, GPT‑powered automation) and a drive to stay on the frontier of development
• Experience with fintech, payments, or highly regulated environments is a plus but not required
• You thrive under pressure, hit deadlines, and never compromise on integrity or quality
