GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Veterans' Home of Wyoming is looking for a motivated Shahbaz (Certified Nurse Aide) to provide care in a home-like setting using the "greenhouse" model of care. Essential Functions
  • Assists with activities of daily living and encourages attitudes and behaviors that enhance community inclusion.
  • Acts as an advocate for disabled individuals in communicating their needs, self-expression, and goals.
  • Provides daily individual and group contact to clients through the delivery of recreation and leisure activities.
  • Plans and prepares for the group and special event programming for clients.
  • Documents weekly progress toward group and intervention participation.
  • Participates in treatment team meetings and shift change reports.
Preferences / Agency Requirements

Preference will be given to individuals with six (6) months or more experience in healthcare.

Agency requires a current Nurse Aide certification (CNA)

Knowledge
  • Knowledge of client protocols and interventions of therapy.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite and practice partner.
  • Knowledge of procedures of specialized sensory programs to include olfactory, vestibular motion, tactile implements, and auditory interventions.
  • Knowledge of mental illnesses and disabilities.
  • Knowledge of program adaptations.
  • Knowledge of recreation and social programming.
  • Knowledge of motivational techniques.
Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience Substitution: 1-3 years of progressive work experience (typically in Human Services)

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CNA Certification obtained within twelve (12) months of hire

OR

Education: Associate's Degree (typically in Healthcare)

Experience: No prior experience required

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: CNA Certification obtained within twelve (12) months of hire

Physical Working Conditions
  • Lift medical/patient equipment of varying sizes and weights to about 50 lbs.
  • Work evenings, nights, and /or weekends as scheduled.

  • A background check, including the taking of fingerprints, will be completed through the Wyoming Department of Criminal Investigation, the Department of Family Services, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation for every successful applicant. For our residents' health and protection, annual influenza vaccination is required, and annual testing for tuberculosis.
  • Employees of this facility will be expected to follow all rules and requirements established by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services regarding COVID-19.
  • Pre-employment drug testing will be conducted on safety-sensitive positions (direct patient care positions are considered safety-sensitive). Drug and alcohol testing will be conducted in any position if reasonable suspicion exists.
