As a Project Engineer at LJA Transportation, you will be responsible for design calculations, preparing plans, and developing schematic designs for GDOT, local government, and regional infrastructure projects while collaborating with team members, clients, and consultants. You’ll apply advanced engineering principles and exercise independent judgment – all while enjoying a supportive, team‑oriented culture.
A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE- Performing design calculations, preparing plans, and directing schematic designs for GDOT, local government, and other projects around the region.
- Using advanced techniques, theory, precepts, and practices.
- Interacting with task leaders, team members, clients, and other consultants.
- Exercising judgment in independently evaluating, selecting, and adapting standard techniques, procedures, and criteria.
- Mentoring direct reports, and conveying knowledge to others.

- Bachelor of Science Degree, Civil Engineering
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer (Georgia preferred as starting point)
- 5+ years of experience with Micro Station, in Roads (or Open Roads) and GDOT procedures.
- Effective communication skills to engage with other employee‑owners.
- Experience with Bentley ORD.
- Experience with large‑scale GDOT projects or programs.
- Experience and relationships with various GA cities and other agencies.
- Advanced skills in specialized software programs.
- Technical training experience.
