Safety Specialist – On‑Site Safety Specialist
Litko Contracting is hiring a Safety Specialist to support our safety culture across multiple locations. As an On‑Site Safety Specialist you will lead daily safety activities, identify hazards, drive compliance, and collaborate with field teams, project leadership and the Territory Safety Lead.
Key Responsibilities- Safety Leadership: Guide and engage field teams to promote a proactive safety culture, ensuring full adherence to Lithko and customer safety standards.
- Field Safety Execution: Conduct site inspections, identify and correct conditions, and verify PPE compliance.
- Safety Training and: Deliver Operational Awareness Training (OATs), facilitate safety meetings, and promote pre‑task planning and stretch and flex programs.
- Incident Reporting and Documentation: Complete safety inspections, reports, and documentation for compliance and audit readiness.
- Collaboration and Communication: Serve as the liaison between field teams, project management, and the Territory Safety Lead for all safety matters.
- Yard Operations Support: Assist with inspections, logistics, and site readiness to support safe and compliant field operations.
- Conduct pre‑task safety meetings and participate in daily stretch and flex sessions.
- Facilitate and reinforce the Daily Prep and Planning (DPP) with project teams.
- Observe work activities and correct unsafe behaviors or conditions immediately.
- Ensure proper PPE usage and availability across the jobsite.
- Deliver and track OAT participation to maintain compliance and readiness.
- Complete daily safety inspections, near‑miss reports, and corrective action documentation.
- Maintain detailed records of all safety incidents, investigations, and follow‑ups.
- Submit shift‑specific safety reports to Field, Project, and Territory Safety Leads.
- Communicate findings to leadership and ensure corrective actions are implemented promptly.
- Support the investigation and documentation of incidents or injuries, providing detailed reports.
- Recommend corrective actions and participate in root‑cause analysis (RCA) when required.
- Identify recurring hazards and collaborate with leadership to implement proactive measures.
- Conduct equipment and material inspections to ensure readiness and compliance.
- Support logistics, equipment movement, and yard safety audits as assigned.
- Maintain proper documentation of deliveries, inspections, and inventory.
- OSHA 30‑hour certification required.
- First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
- 1‑3 years of construction or safety‑related experience.
- Working knowledge of OSHA standards and construction safety best practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to influence safe behaviors.
- Ability to work flexible shifts and travel between sites as needed.
