Position Description

Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Master Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Buford, Georgia.

Compensation and Benefits
  • Hourly Pay: $30.50 per hour
  • Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification, up to $700
  • Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
  • Sign‑On Bonus: $1,750 at 30 days and $1,750 at 90 days
  • Schedule:

    Monday - Friday, Weekends OFF
  • Hours:

    Second Shift – Monday 12:30 pm - 9:00 pm;
    Tuesday - Friday 2:30 pm - 11:00 pm

Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)
  • Vocational or Technical Certification;
    Post‑Secondary degree or Technical Certifications (preferred)
  • Basic tools are required
  • Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including:
    • Routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)
    • Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems (required)
  • Three (3) years or more relevant work experience (preferred)
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A (preferred)
  • All other certifications required by location (required)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑duty and medium‑duty equipment
  • Computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc.
  • This position requires you to drive Ryder vehicles. Requirements:
    • Must obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
    • Pass Ryder Drug Test
    • Pass DOT physical
    • Pass Ryder road test
    • Pass Ryder Background and Motor Vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years

Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including:
    • Standard vehicle maintenance
    • Preventive maintenance
    • Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer when applicable
    • Complete complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision
    • Replace defective components as instructed
    • Work unsupervised on most tasks
  • Perform facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
  • Utilize key functions of Shop Management System and electronic documentation
  • Work in accordance with all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
  • Act as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
  • Demonstrate ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents
  • Other support duties as required to support operations, including Service Island support
  • SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT
    220)
  • Complete 2 of the OEM On‑Line diagnostic scan tool software courses within 365 days, per location fleet mix
