The Local Driver – Trainer will supervise work activities for all relief driver positions. Coordinate, plan and conduct Relief Driver training and evaluation programs. He/She will coordinate with the Transportation Manager for the movement of all trucks and services required, with local repair agencies, dispatch, and warehouse for all local requirements.
Essential Functions- Train and assist new drivers in all expectations for a safe professional driver.
- Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel; schedule and assign work; recommend disciplinary actions and removal of applicants from the training program as appropriate.
- Plan and implement training programs; conduct weekly safe‑driving checks and provide training for areas of deficiencies.
- Be a positive voice of the Company’s Vision and Mission and adhere to all procedures in support of them.
- Promote the Department’s vision of Safety, Service and Efficiency.
- Supervise the shuttling of all equipment to and from various agencies, company locations, and any other assigned locations.
- Provide constant updates to the Department Director on recurring maintenance issues.
- Work independently with minimal supervision when required.
- Communicate and work as a team member.
- Participate in discussions about confidential/sensitive matters and understand these stay between those in the discussion.
- Communicate with employees and customers through written, oral and face‑to‑face interactions.
- Assist other team members in completing work.
- Adhere to safety standards when completing tasks.
- Occasionally fill in on over‑the‑road trips when required.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Valid Class A driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Proven safe driving record.
- Minimum 5-10 years of driving experience.
- Excellent customer relations experience for internal and external customers.
- Strong background in training.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise a group of employees in a positive manner, be part of a team environment, and commit to quality processes.
- Results oriented and passionate about the company’s business and product line‑up.
- Personal integrity, honesty and leadership by example.
- Ability to speak in front of groups and conduct presentations at all levels.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain discretion with confidential information.
Responsible for overseeing relief drivers through training matrices.
Work EnvironmentThe worker is frequently subject to outside environmental conditions: exposed to changing weather, noise, cold, and wet conditions.
Physical Demands- Often requires walking or moving to accomplish tasks.
- Often requires standing for sustained periods of time.
- Occasionally requires stooping and reaching.
- Occasionally requires pushing using upper extremities to press against something with steady force.
- Occasionally requires pulling using upper extremities to exert force to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion.
- Lifting is required on an occasional basis.
- Repetitive motions are required which involve substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
Full‑time position working 5 days a week, weekdays and some weekends as required. Expected hours vary but mostly 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
TravelSome travel required.
Preferred Education And Experience- Knowledge of computer programs such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint preferred.
