Job Overview
The Crisis Mobil Team Specialist performs a variety of support functions for the police department, including but not limited to the following activities:
- De‑escalate:
Provide relief to consumers experiencing a behavioral health crisis in any location within GSA BHC. - Reduce stigma:
Support consumers and their families to reduce stigma surrounding mental health. - Provide information:
Deliver information, referrals, and other alternative support. - Connection to Community providers:
Connect consumers to community‑based providers who can provide intensive outpatient or inpatient services. - Respond to LE scene and take command allowing Officers and EMS to return to duty as soon as possible.
- Identify rapid arrest or high utilizers of 911/dispatch center for non‑LE or EMS with mental health concerns.
- Redirect consumers away from the justice system and into the behavioral health system.
- Provide follow‑up services for high acute SMI (severely mentally ill) and COT (Court Ordered Treatment) members ensuring they remain connected to community behavioral health organizations and directed away from the Justice and EMS systems.
- Respond to all requests by LE/EMS to assess, triage and resource as needed.
- Provide post‑crisis follow‑up with individuals and families.
- Provide mental‑health evaluations and assessment of individuals and families as needed.
- Provide Continuum of Care:
Integrated system of care that guides and tracks a consumer over time through a comprehensive array of health services appropriate to the individual’s need. A continuum of careóż may include prevention, early intervention, continuing resource identification and ongoing support.

Work is performed under the supervision of the BACCUP TEAM Manager as well as the on‑duty Patrol Lieutenant médicament patrol supervisors. Incumbents often work without direct supervision and are expected to exercise independent initiative and mature judgment.

High School Diploma or GED, and experience in behavioral or social services; or any combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. All Police Department employment is contingent upon the successful completion of the following: oral interview, drug screen and polygraph.
Licensing & Training- Valid State Driver’s License
- National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) training based on assignment.
* Continued employment is contingent upon all required licenses and certificates being maintained in active status without suspension or revocation.
Essential Functions- Communicates verbally with the general public, other City employees, Court officials, and other agency personnel in order to assist the person, persons in crisis and get them the needed resources in the most efficient and effective manner possible.
- May be required to testify in Court.
- Transports the general public to and from needed resource, providing other needed resources to the best of their ability.
- Observes and monitors the status and behavior of the person in crisis in order to comply with prescribed operating and safety standards.
- Uses specialized, non‑routine, protective equipment when exposed to hazardous agents and chemicals.
