Through our Head Start and Early Head Start programs, we work with children (ages 0–5) and their families to provide the skills, confidence and stable home life needed for a smooth transition into kindergarten and beyond. Children receive a broad array of health services including screenings and referrals, maintenance of immunization schedules, nutrition assessments and follow‑ups, mental health assessments as part of initial screenings, and determination of any developmental or physical delays.

Enrolled children receive healthy meals, nutrition education for parents, and ongoing health and dental services.

The Co‑Teacher will provide children (ages 2–3) with an environment that includes varied activities to help them develop socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically in ways appropriate to their age and developmental stage, with the overall goal of achieving social competence.

• Provide children with an environment that includes varied activities to help them develop socially, emotionally, intellectually and physically.
• Implement the program curriculum for children enrolled in morning and afternoon classes (double sessions). Plan individual and group activities to stimulate learning and promote parent involvement.
• Integrate various Head Start services into learning, such as parent involvement, social services, nutrition, health, and mental health services.
• Conduct daily classroom planning, maintain children’s records with the Family Advocate, and submit accurate monthly paperwork on time.
• Observe, screen and assess children’s developmental levels and develop individualized goals.
• Provide a program of activities that supports and enhances the role of parents as the primary educators of their children.
• Ensure the learning environment reflects the varied cultural and ethnic backgrounds of the children and the larger communities.
• Maintain a physical environment consistent with state and local licensing requirements and the health and safety needs of the children.
• Perform other duties as may be required to fulfill the program mission.

• Must be able to pass a fingerprint clearance, background check, including criminal history, personal references, employment and education verifications.
• Proof at the time of hire
  • TB clearance within 6 months prior
  • Annual Influenza vaccination (Nov. 1 – Mar. 31)
  • Pertussis (whooping cough) and measles immunization
• Health screening at the time of employment.
• Requires ability to interact with children in a busy environment, including (but not limited to):
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequently kneel and squat
  • Ability to move quickly

• 6 units of infant/toddler (at least 3 semester units at hire; remaining units to be completed within 1 year of hire).
• AA in Early Child Education/Child Development with 24 units in Child Development OR AA in a related field with 24 Child Development units.
