Job Summary and Purpose
The Site Supervisor oversees two or more classrooms and works cooperatively with all staff members. They provide supervision of teaching staff, help promote a positive atmosphere, and actively embrace diversity and cultural understanding. Site Supervisors also create a social and emotional climate that supports teamwork, builds group pride, and constructively resolves site conflicts.
Specific Duties
- Ensures implementation of the program curriculum for children enrolled in services, administers plans for individuals and group activities to stimulate learning and promote parent involvement.
- Reviews end‑of‑the‑month paperwork for accuracy and ensures timely submission of monthly paperwork and reports.
- Ensures that the curriculum plan meets the needs of all children, families, and staff.
- Integrates various Head Start services—including parent involvement, social services, nutrition, health, disabilities, and mental health—into daily program activities, home visits, and socializations.
- Oversees the physical environment in compliance with state and local licensing requirements and the health and safety needs of the children.
- Supports home visitors on‑site with planning and guidance based on individual family needs.
- Other duties as may be needed to support the program mission.
Essential Duties
- Review plans to ensure curriculum meets the needs of all stakeholders.
- Mentor teaching and support staff on site; attend home visits off‑site to provide feedback and coaching for home visitors.
- Administer individual and group activities and provide information and resources to enrolled families.
- Oversee physical environment in compliance with licensing and health/safety requirements.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications
- Must pass a fingerprint clearance/background check, including criminal history, references, employment and education verifications.
- Proof of TB clearance (within 6 months prior) and annual influenza vaccination, and pertussis/measles immunizations.
- Health screening at the time of employment.
- Ability to interact with children in a busy environment; able to lift up to 50 lbs., frequently kneel and squat, and move quickly.
Education
- BA in Early Childhood Education/Child Development or closely related field.
- Site Supervisor Child Development Permit (or in progress).
- 24 child development units of education.
Experience
- Two years of teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- One year of supervisor experience.
- Six admin units and three supervision units.
- Management coursework.
- Four years of teaching experience.
- Head Start performance standards knowledge.
- Creative curriculum development.
- Licensing regulations knowledge.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and verbal).
