FEA Design Engineer

FEA Design Engineer - Burbank, CA

We are seeking an FEA Design Engineer for our Design Engineering team at Altair in Burbank, CA. This is a direct‑hire, full‑time position with an annual salary range of $95,000–$115,000.

The employee will serve as a stress analysis and mechanical design subject‑matter expert supporting a variety of projects in the aerospace industry. The role requires working independently for approximately 75 % of the time, with travel required of less than 15 %. Work includes high‑pressure, high‑temperature pneumatic and fluid lines for domestic and foreign commercial, military, and space markets. The position is unsupervised for most of the time.

• Detailed component design, including conceptual sketches (physical or CAD) and drafting.
• FEA‑based stress analysis with a focus on structural dynamics, fatigue, and nonlinear solutions.
• Full life‑cycle product support from new product development, legacy product support, research & development, to failure analysis.
• Programming custom design and automation tools in Excel (VBA), MATLAB, Python, and software APIs.
• Applying internal flow calculations and external insulation calculations.
• Collaborating with cross‑functional teams:
  Project Engineers, Drafters, Manufacturing Engineers, Quality Engineers, Test Lab Personnel, Contracts, and Sales.
