Summary:
**** The Manufacturing Engineering Manager works mainly within the operations organization and will directly interface with other departments supporting the SSP organization Goals and Objectives. This position provides leadership, sets priorities/workload, assesses team talent and career growth, initiates and implements process/tooling/efficiency improvements, and directly impacts operational efficiency and throughput. Prepare reports identifying areas for improvement, oversees improvement projects, presents results and initiates efforts in the development of new manufacturing and production techniques.
Apply Continuous Improvement and Lean methods and determine required resources within assigned responsible area. Research, plan and prepare new programs/projects/processes including manufacturing and BOM reviews, producibility evaluations, operator ergonomics, tooling plans, etc. Originate and develop new manufacturing and tooling concepts; provide liaison between Estimating, Planning, Tooling, and Fabrication Departments; prepare presentations showing results in the development of new manufacturing and production techniques.
Ability to collect, analyze and interpret data to make informed decisions and improvements to the department/business. Application of production methods and fabrication techniques. Perform related work as required.
Under general supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:
- Supervise employees, conduct performance evaluations, set Goals and Objectives, monitor performance, assess workload and assign priorities.
- Responsible for and focal point for manufacturing technical aspects of assigned project(s):
- Compliance with customer/product procurement specifications
- Process validation
- Product manufacturability
- Concurrence on planning document releases
- Tooling requirements
- New product introduction
- Evaluates and maintains BOMs, Processes, Master Router, etc. related to building production hardware.
- Ensure the manufacturability of detail parts, sub-assemblies, top assemblies as applicable to project(s).
- May provide technical assistance between Senior Aerospace SSP manufacturing and customer engineering.
- Assist in the initial manufacturing cycle of new detail parts, sub-assemblies and assemblies.
- Project/proposal management
- Be familiar with the delivery schedule and adhere to that schedule. In case of conflict or if additional time is required to complete and validate the tooling and processes associated, the Manufacturing Engineering Manager shall work with the assigned Contracts Administrator/Operations Manager for schedule relief/change.
- Follow-up on the progress of a project throughout the manufacturing process. Apply time standards, process validation, efficiency improvements and manufacturing variance analysis.
- Be familiar with the product manufacturing processes, identify, and implement cost reduction ideas and/or process improvements.
- Perform, document and validate component, assembly, and/or system processes analysis.
- Define, identify, and coordinate the design of tooling as it applies to the process.
- Develop sound manufacturing processes based upon Senior Aerospace SSP’s capabilities.
- Check production drawing(s) for technical content.
- Make recommendations and offer credible solutions to product, tooling and processes.
- Follow all Senior policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:- B.S. degree in Manufacturing Engineering (or another Engineering discipline) with a minimum of 7 years engineering experience in an aerospace environment. A master’s degree in engineering or MBA is a plus.
- Knowledge of sheet metal, aerospace materials, processes and industry.
- Knowledge of sheet metal related processes (welding, forming, NDT, etc.) and geometric tolerance.
- Minimum of 4 years previous experience in a supervisory capacity.
- Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma, Green Belt experience or training is a plus.
