Our client located in Burbank, CA is a growing manufacturer of high-precision automated equipment serving the medical device, aerospace, and electronics industries is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead its engineering team. This role oversees product development, equipment design, engineering processes, and team leadership within a fast-paced, solution-driven environment. The ideal candidate brings proven experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams developing complex automated machinery or precision equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and develop a team of mechanical, electrical, and controls engineers.
- Oversee all engineering activities related to automated equipment, custom machinery, and precision systems.
- Manage engineering project plans, timelines, design reviews, and deliverables.
- Provide technical guidance across mechanical design, electrical controls, and system integration.
- Collaborate with customers to understand requirements and translate them into engineering specifications.
- Review and approve engineering documentation, technical reports, and design packages.
- Partner with production on equipment assembly, testing, and troubleshooting.
- Support sourcing of critical components, materials, and external services.
- Work closely with quality and operations to maintain and improve the Quality Management System (QMS).
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote Lean manufacturing practices.
- Contribute to product and technology roadmap planning.
- 10+ years of engineering leadership experience.
- Background developing precision equipment, medical devices, automation systems, or complex electromechanical machinery.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design, electrical controls, motion systems, and system integration.
- Experience supporting customers in regulated or advanced industries (medical device, aerospace, electronics, etc.).
- Proficiency with ASME Y14.5, GD&T, engineering standards, and structured documentation.
- Demonstrated success managing engineering teams, hiring, and performance development.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple programs simultaneously.
- Excellent communication skills and comfort interacting with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Materials Engineering required; advanced degree preferred.
- Lead a growing engineering department with strong visibility to leadership.
