About the Company / The OpportunityAre you a seasoned legal professional with expertise in employment law and compliance? We are a leader in the manufacturing industry and are seeking an Employment Counsel to join our corporate team. This in-house role offers the opportunity to provide strategic legal advice on a broad spectrum of employment and HR matters, ensuring compliance with labor laws and supporting the organization’s growth.
This is a unique chance to work in a fast-paced environment while shaping HR policies and practices for a global manufacturing leader.
- Provide legal advice on employment compliance, including worker classification, wage and hour laws, and workplace safety.
- Draft, review, and negotiate employment contracts, separation agreements, and restrictive covenants (non-compete and confidentiality agreements).
- Oversee employment-related aspects of corporate transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions.
- Collaborate with HR managers to address compliance issues, conduct internal investigations, and manage sensitive employment matters.
- Supervise the Corporate HR team and provide strategic leadership on discipline, terminations, wage disputes, and other HR-related issues.
- Support and coordinate the defense of workers compensation claims.
- Juris Doctor (JD).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in employment law.
- HR experience.
- Solid experience in drafting and negotiating contracts (non-disclosure agreements, manufacturing supply agreements, vendor contracts, brokerage agreements, IP licensing, equipment leasing, loan agreements/notes, warehousing agreements, real estate leases and purchases, and M&A).
- Experience with employment aspects of mergers and acquisitions.
- Previous in-house counsel experience within the manufacturing industry.
- Strong interpersonal communication.
