OverviewThe Director of Publicity will report to the VP of Publicity, Direct to Consumer. This member of the publicity team will translate publicity efforts into measurable outcomes including media impressions, social commitment, and brand visibility.
This person will lead publicity campaigns from the beginning to the premiere. They will be the main point of contact for entertainment reporters, trade news, external publicists, and talent representatives. They will collaborate closely with the marketing, content, awards, and creative teams.
The ideal candidate is good at creating publicity that gets a lot of media coverage and gets people interested. This role requires good teamwork with marketing, awards, talent relations, content strategy, and production staff. It also involves collaborating with external studios, talent agencies, and publicity firms.
ResponsibilitiesSupport the VP in driving comprehensive publicity campaigns for Paramount+ Original scripted and unscripted series, while independently managing select titles from initial announcement through premiere and full‑season rollout.
Create compelling narratives and positioning that differentiate Paramount+ content in the streaming landscape.
Collaborate with content and programming teams to identify publicity opportunities during the development process.
Execute media strategies that secure placements in key outlets including broadcast morning shows, late-night programs, major publications, podcasts, and digital platforms.
Build productive relationships with creators and performers while navigating talent dynamics diplomatically.
Lead on‑site publicity operations for major events and premieres, serving as key decision‑maker.
Manage press list development, media credentials, and on‑site press coordination.
Oversee creation of press kits, screening materials, and event collateral.
Collaborate with paid media and marketing teams to amplify earned media through coordinated strategies.
May oversee day‑to‑day work of publicity coordinators and junior team members.
Track expenses and ensure campaigns are executed within budget parameters.
Stay informed on emerging platforms, content consumption behaviors, and evolving publicity tactics.
Represent Paramount+ at industry events and cultivate relationships with media organizations.
Serve as industry expert and thought leader within the organization.
Basic QualificationsBachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field required.
7+ progressive experience in entertainment publicity for television, streaming, or film.
Demonstrated ability to create successful publicity strategies and manage media connections.
Ability to work evenings, holidays, and weekends as needed for events, premieres, and campaign deadlines.
Experience with both scripted and unscripted content publicity.
Additional QualificationsKnowledge of press tour protocols, embargo management, and media event best practices.
Sophisticated approach to campaign development with ability to identify cultural moments and build multi‑phase publicity strategies.
Insight of how publicity drives subscriber commitment, content discovery, brand perception, and platform differentiation.
Well‑versed in presenting strategies and results to senior executive team.
Proficient collaboration skills with ability to work appropriately across creative, marketing, content, legal, and business affairs teams.
Highly expertise in managing complex campaigns with multiple transitioning parts.
Flexible and responsive to changing priorities, shifting timelines, and evolving media landscape.
