Position SummaryAs a Sous Chef, you will collaborate with the Executive Chef to oversee kitchen operations, develop menu items, manage staff, and maintain a clean, efficient, and profitable kitchen environment.
Job Duties- Assist the Executive Chef with daily kitchen operations, including preparation, cooking, and plating.
- Develop and execute menu items that reflect our restaurant’s standards and guest preferences.
- Ensure all dishes meet the highest quality and presentation standards.
- Supervise and train kitchen staff, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Monitor inventory levels, enforce proper stock rotation, and minimize waste.
- Uphold all health and safety regulations, keeping the kitchen clean and sanitary.
- Maintain kitchen equipment, reporting issues promptly.
- Manage food cost and labor budgets to optimize efficiency and profitability.
- Execute orders accurately and timely during service hours.
- Perform additional responsibilities as directed by the Chef or General Manager.
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or equivalent in a high‑volume, fine‑dining restaurant (at least $10 million annual sales).
- Culinary degree or equivalent experience.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- In‑depth knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and multitask.
- Creative and passionate about food with an eye for detail.
- Strong organizational and problem‑solving abilities.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Frequent lifting, moving, and carrying of kitchenware, equipment, and containers up to 30 pounds.
- Standing for 6+ hour shifts with appropriate breaks.
- Continuous walking, bending, stooping, and turning in the kitchen.
- Occasional use of stairs to move food items and equipment.
- Repetitive wrist, hand, and finger motions.
