Your New RoleThis position is responsible for driving revenue and readership growth for DC Comics in bookstores, mass accounts, libraries, and educational channels. The role also executes sales plans and go‑to‑market strategies in retail accounts worldwide while supporting DC’s priorities of “one team” and “best‑in‑class operations.”
- In conjunction with the Director of Book Channel Sales and DC’s global book distributor, create, develop, and execute sales plans for key retail accounts, independent bookstores, libraries, schools, and mass accounts that feature and amplify DC’s annual priority graphic novels and franchise‑related activations. Identify new business opportunities for various audience targets, build and nurture relationships with key partners and vendors, assess risks/rewards, and present recommendations to leadership for review and adoption.
Work with Director, Book Channel Sales to establish account‑specific sales goals and KPIs for post‑release tracking. - Manage the pre‑order solicitation process with the goal of maximizing awareness, orders, and purchase intent in all book channel accounts. Work with cross‑departmental partners to develop ongoing CRM and newsletter communication with indie and national bookstore purchase decision makers, and create appropriate sales/marketing support materials accordingly.
- Oversee the development of account‑specific sales presentations, go‑to‑market strategies, and support materials to be used for presentations to retail buyers and other key stakeholders. Work with cross‑departmental partners to ensure all programs meet DC’s standards and are completed on time and within budget.
- Contribute to the annual budget and reforecasting process by estimating unit and revenue sales for all graphic novels sold in book channels. Track pre‑orders and ongoing sales results for each title and present findings to DC’s senior management and other key stakeholders each month, comparing actual sales results to budget and recommending ways to improve or augment programs based on findings.
- Inspire, develop, mentor, and lead a high‑performing team dedicated to delivering exceptional service and products, and ensuring coordinated and effective operations. Set goals and direction, prioritize work, provide ongoing feedback, and manage and evaluate performance.

Work Experience
- At least six (6) years of experience in account management, sales, and/or retail marketing required.
- At least two (2) years of experience in comics publishing and/or retail sales required.
- Experience leading and managing teams is strongly preferred.
- Experience in data analysis, market research, and P&L management is preferred.
Education, Professional Training, Technical Training or Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience required.
- MBA or MFA is a plus.
- Must have the ability to operate as a self‑motivated business manager, comfortable working in a fast‑paced and highly dynamic environment.
- Must have excellent communication skills (both verbally and in writing) and strong interpersonal skills, with a knack for building and maintaining relationships and influencing stakeholders at all levels of the organization, as well as with external partners (such as vendors).
