About The Position

Members of the Behavior Support Team (BeST) provide short‑term community‑based intervention services throughout King County for families who have a child with developmental disabilities experiencing behaviour challenges. Individualised behaviour plans are developed using the Positive Behaviour Support model, an evidence‑informed practice that incorporates principles from behaviour therapy, family systems theory and other counselling modalities. BeST enjoys an excellent reputation in the community for providing in‑home support to families.

Responsibilities – Behaviour Support Team

  • Conduct comprehensive intake assessment of youth and family’s needs across all life domains and review/update as indicated.
  • Generate treatment plan and crisis plan with youth and family based on their individual needs.
  • Complete a functional behaviour assessment and develop a positive behaviour support plan that is informed by the functional behaviour assessment.
  • Provide clinical services such as individual and family therapy as needed throughout the course of treatment.
  • All documentation to be in compliance with Navos guidelines, Developmental Disabilities Administration and King County contract requirements, Washington Administrative Code and the Revised Code of Washington.
  • Documentation timelines and assessment standards to be in compliance with BeST training manual guidelines.
  • Make decisions regarding treatment planning, intervention and discharge planning from an informed clinical perspective that incorporates positive behaviour support and best practice guidelines.
  • Interventions to take place in settings appropriate to youth and family such as residence, school and community. Reliable insured vehicle required to attend multiple community‑based appointments.
  • Refer to and collaborate with Developmental Disabilities Administration Case Resource Manager, specialised agencies and/or community‑based resources when clinically indicated.
  • Maintain client records in keeping with agency, county, contract and state guidelines.
  • Complete continuing education training as required by state regulations and all trainings required by Navos.
  • Attend weekly individual clinical supervision, weekly team meetings and required agency meetings.
  • Supports an agency‑wide implementation of trauma‑informed care.
  • Fosters healing, hopeful, honest and trusting relationships for consumers and employees; values consumer voice, choice and self‑advocacy.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to cultural competence.
  • Promotes a safe, calm and secure environment with supportive care and family‑driven services that are trauma‑specific and promote recovery and wellness.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

The Licensed Mental Health Professional is a key role within the behavioural health department of Multi Care, responsible for providing individual, family and group therapy for patients. Treating a broad array of behavioural health disorders, mental illness and co‑occurring illnesses, this role enables the application of evidence‑based and evidence‑informed outpatient therapy and clinical service skill sets in everyday practice.

Therapist Responsibilities

  • You will complete psychiatric or psychosocial assessments, including mental status exams.
  • You will develop with the individual in service an assessment and comprehensive treatment plan that identifies the unique needs of each individual and may provide individual, couples, family, psychoeducation and group therapy.
  • You will provide psychotherapy, supportive therapy (e.g. problem solving, role‑playing, modelling and support), social skill development and assertiveness training to increase patient social and interpersonal activities in community settings.
  • You will document all encounters in the electronic health record according to organisation policies and procedures and monitor outcome measurements.
  • You will collaborate with referral sources and other members of the patient's clinical team.
  • You will provide ongoing measurement of the individual in service outcomes and evaluation of intervention effectiveness.
